August is always a very special month for me as it is the month I married my gorgeous Bill. This year it is even more special as we will be celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary on the 17th of August.
As it is our ‘Ruby’ we decided to celebrate this milestone in our life with a lunch time party. All three of our daughters and our three grandchildren will be there which is super special as one daughter lives in Boston and one in Sydney.
I’ve booked the DJ, ordered the cake and everyone is being asked to wear something red…how much fun will it be…so looking forward to it. Our oldest daughter has made up a slideshow of our lives together that will be played on the day so I may need tissues as well.
Everyone asks us ‘how have you stayed so happy for all these years?’ So read below what I believe is the recipe for a Happy Marriage, which I wrote and read out at our daughter’s wedding a few years ago. I know I have published this before, it’s an oldie but a goody.
MY RECIPE FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE
The ingredients you will need are:-
1 cup of unconditional love
A sprinkle of humility
A shake of kindness
Pour in ½ cup each of respect and honesty
Slice some passion into the mix
Add a dash of friendship
And dice a little commitment
Sift in loads of compromising
And spoon in abundant joy and laughter
Finally add another cup of love
To make this recipe you will need to place all the above ingredients into a large bowl of eternal blessings and stir together well.
Fold with tenderness to blend 2 hearts together for life, then
Pour into a tin that has been coated with good health and happiness
Bake for eternity and serve whenever needed.
